Born from a
obsession with
honest bread
Bronx Bread started the way most good things do — with someone tired of the alternatives. Our founder spent years traveling through Italy, Spain, and the Basque Country, eating bread that tasted like something real. Then they came home and couldn't find a single loaf in the Bronx that measured up.
So they started baking. In a garage. With a secondhand oven and a sourdough starter named after a neighborhood corner. It took three years to open the doors on Stillwell Avenue. Three years of throwing out batches that weren't good enough. Of learning that patience isn't a strategy — it's the whole strategy.
Today, we bake for the people who live three blocks away and the people who drive in from Brooklyn because they heard about us. The bread is the same. The oven is still secondhand. The patience hasn't changed.
